STUDIO
The Quiltworks studio was converted from a barn in 2006. It is a large area on the first floor which has been specially designed and furnished for the quilter. The windows look onto our garden and across fields to the fells.
There are work areas for seven quilters, a large batting up table (1.8m x 3m), ironing stations, a refreshment area, a design wall and a cloakroom. Good quality machines are available for hire including the brand new Pfaff Expression 4.
The natural lighting is excellent and there are true-colour tubes in all the lights together with smaller directional lights at each work station. Cutting mats and rulers are also provided.
EQUIPMENT
Quiltworks is well equipped with basic supplies for those here on courses or retreats, including five different battings, fabrics, threads, needles, pins, cutters, etc. For anything else there are two good quilt shops eleven and twenty miles away.
I also have an embroidery machine and software with thousands of designs and I will be happy to design and stitch out quilt labels while you are here.

TUITION
With prior notice I can teach a class for a day or half day. My first love is quilting but I also teach soft furnishings. Or why not invite your favourite quilting teacher to join you on your retreat? You could try Pat Archibald - an amazing quilter and teacher.
