STUDIO

The first studio was converted from a barn in 2006. It is a large area on the first floor which has been specially designed and furnished for the quilter. The windows look onto our garden and across fields to the fells.

There are work areas for quilters, a large batting up table (1.8m x 3m), ironing stations, a refreshment area and a cloakroom. Good quality machines are available for hire and there is a new Pfaff Expression 4.

The second studio links through to the first and was completed in 2009. Both studios have excellent natural light and there are true-colour tubes in all the lights. There are also smaller directional lights at most work stations.

Cutting mats and rulers are also available for you to use if it is not convenient for you to bring your own.

EQUIPMENT

Quiltworks is well stocked with basic supplies for sale to those here on courses or retreats, including five different battings, over 200 fabrics, threads, needles, pins, cutters, etc. For anything else there are two good quilt shops eleven and twenty miles away.

I also have an embroidery machine and software with thousands of designs and I will be happy to design and stitch out quilt labels while you are here.

TUITION

With prior notice I can teach a project during your stay or a class for a day or half day. My first love is quilting but I also teach soft furnishings. Or why not invite your favourite quilting teacher to join you on your retreat?
